The South Florida Black Journalists Association is a chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) serving the diaspora in Broward and Miami-Dade counties. While our region is known worldwide for its fun and sun, the chapter has, for three decades, united a community of journalists who share the goals of media diversity, fairness and professional excellence.

Our purpose is being fulfilled through our activities:

* Rochelle Bridges Memorial Scholarship program for promising high school seniors. Dwight Lauderdale Scholarship for college journalism students. An endowed scholarship at Florida International University.

* Media workshops to educate the community about the most effective ways to get their messages in the media.

Our members also assist with the University of Miami High School journalism workshop and the Florida Memorial College career day.

Through SFBJA we seek to maximize the benefits of our common association, facilitate our professional career growth, acknowledge the exceptional talents of our members and maintain the highest standards of excellence in our profession.

Our meetings are held on the third Saturday of every month at noon.
